A visit to Dr Jenner’s House makes a great family day out. Edward Jenner used to live in this house, and it’s now a museum telling his story. There’s lots to see and do – smell the herbs in the Physic Garden, follow a trail through the house, visit the Temple of Vaccinia or relax on the grass.
Start your visit… by watching our introductory DVD all about Edward Jenner. Older children will enjoy the adult version, but we also have a child-friendly DVD perfect for younger children. Ask our Front of House team which is best for you.
Then set out to… discover the house and garden with our trails and activities. We’re always adding new trails so there should be a different one to try each time you visit. Find interesting objects, pick your favourites and go back in time to learn more about Dr Jenner’s amazing discoveries.
What would you have worn if… you lived in the Georgian era? Find out with our dressing up box. Try on different clothes and hats, and don’t forget to take a selfie. There’s also games to play, books to look at, drawing and colouring. Hang your picture on our board for everyone to see.
Forget the saying keep off the grass… we encourage you to keep on the grass! The lawn is perfect for picnics with plenty of grass and seating. If it’s nice out, have fun with our garden games or invent your own.
Remember to visit… the Old Cyder House where we have craft activities during the school holidays and event days. If it’s raining, bring your picnic in and browse our second-hand bookstall, to find a story to take home or use our free Wi-Fi to share your visit. Don’t forget to tag us in your posts!
Everything is included… in your ticket price, but don’t worry about trying to fit it all in in one day. If you Gift Aid your entry you receive free return admission for a whole year, so you can come back again and again and explore even further. A family ticket is £15.95 for up to 2 adults and 3 children.
