In 1796, Edward Jenner carried out the first vaccination at his home in Berkeley, Gloucestershire. This was the beginning of a story that has transformed global public health. Following the global eradication of smallpox in 1980, the museum moved to its current location in Jenner’s former home. In 2025 we began Re-Jenner-ation, our five-year programme to renew and reimagine the birthplace of vaccination and its role in education, public understanding and the story of vaccination. We welcome organisations that share an interest in science, education, health, heritage and public engagement to work with us. Ways to Partner

There is no single model for partnering with Dr Jenner’s House. We develop partnerships around shared values and objectives and support can range from sponsorship of individual activities or programmes to significant philanthropic investment in Re-Jenner-ation or a combination of these. We are happy to discuss opportunities from smaller contributions through to major strategic partnerships and multi-year commitments. There are variety of areas where your support could make a huge difference:

• Conservation: Help deliver the physical renewal of Dr Jenner’s 18th century home in Berkeley, ensuring this extraordinary place and its collections are protected.

• STEM learning: Support science-based learning programmes for schools and universities, exploring Jenner’s work, immunology and public health.

• Public understanding: Help create opportunities for informal learning and engagement about vaccination, its impact and its continuing importance to global health.

• Sector engagement: Develop opportunities for conferences, learning and engagement with the global vaccine community.

Our story has global significance: Dr Jenner’s work here in Berkeley helped establish vaccination as a practical means of preventing disease. The story that began here has gone on to shape global public health and remains relevant today.

Our 5 year redevelopment programme is underway and you can be part of it: In 2030, the world will mark 50 years since smallpox was eradicated. We see this as an opportunity to look to the past and the future: to celebrate what vaccination has achieved, while asking what the next generation needs to understand about science, health and disease prevention. What your Support could Enable

Every partnership will be different so what follows is purely illustrative to you a sense of how we could collaborate and the kinds of benefits to your organisation that we can offer:

From £3,000 — Support learning and engagement

A contribution from £3,000 could enable us to develop, deliver and promote a new STEM workshop and related resources connecting Jenner’s story with contemporary vaccination, science and public health.

Benefits to your organisation could include: recognition of your support on workshop materials, in the museum and online, ‘STEM ambassador’ opportunities, delivery of measurable educational impact.

From £10,000 — Sponsor a formal education programme, widen access to STEM

A contribution of from £10,000 could support a targeted programme of school, university or community learning, helping us reach new audiences and develop engaging ways to explore vaccination and its history. This might include support for travel costs to the museum - a known barrier to access.

Benefits to your organisation could include recognition as a programme partners, opportunities for employee engagement, invitations to relevant events and opportunities to share expertise or participate in programme activity. ‍ Delivery of measurable social and educational impact.

From £25,000 — Support a major formal and/or informal learning programme

A contribution from £25,000 could support a substantial programme of education, public engagement, interpretation or events, developed around shared objectives.

Benefits to your organisation: a more substantial partnership package, including recognition across relevant communications, opportunities for staff engagement and events, and involvement in shaping appropriate elements of the programme.

From £50,000 — Turnkey investment in Re-Jenner-ation

A major philanthropic gift or sponsorship of £50,000 or more could contribute to Re-Jenner-ation. This is our programme to renew and reimagine the birthplace of vaccination ahead of the 50th anniversary of smallpox eradication in 2030. Support could contribute to areas such as urgent conservation, specialist project management, capacity building, or preparation for the next phase of development.

Benefits to your organisation: recognition as a significant supporter, opportunities for meaningful engagement with the programme and its development, tailored staff and stakeholder experiences, and appropriate visibility associated with the area supported.

From £100,000 — Become a strategic partner

A major investment of £100,000 or more could support a significant capital element of Re-Jenner-ation, such as the new learning centre. Alternatively this might combine investment across several areas of our work. It could be structured as a multi-year philanthropic commitment, major sponsorship or a broader strategic partnership, potentially combining financial support with expertise, networks, resources or collaborative activity.

Benefits to your organisation: a tailored partnership developed around shared objectives, with opportunities for meaningful engagement, recognition, knowledge-sharing, staff and stakeholder activity, and involvement in appropriate aspects of the programme's development.
