Opportunities at
Dr Jenner’s House

Dr Jenner’s House is currently inviting quotations for three consultant and contractor opportunities linked to exciting new phases of work across the museum.

These commissions will help us strengthen collections management, support future planning, and shape the next stage of our wider Re-Jenner-ation project. Two of the opportunities are linked to our current National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported development work, while our collections commission is funded through Museum Development South West.

If you are interested in any of the roles below, please read the full brief and submit your quotation by email to James Rodliff, Museum Director, at director@edwardjenner.co.uk.

1. Collections and Archive Management Contractor

Deadline: 6 June 2026

We are seeking an experienced collections and archive management contractor to deliver a focused collections development project at Dr Jenner’s House. This work will support documentation, collections care and risk reduction, and skills transfer for staff and volunteers. It will also help shape a modest public study space to support supervised access to archive and collections material. This project is funded by Museum Development South West and forms an important part of our work to strengthen collections management, improve access, and build organisational resilience. Budget up to £4,000.

2. Audience, Activity and Interpretation Framework Consultant

Deadline: 24 May 2026

We are inviting quotations from consultants with relevant heritage, audience development or participation experience to prepare a concise Activity Plan and Audience Development Framework for the Re-Jenner-ation project. This is a focused commission to help shape proportionate audience and activity planning for a future National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase application. The work will draw on current in-house audience research and help ensure audience and activity thinking informs the emerging design process. Budget up to £7,500 excluding VAT.

3. Business Planning Consultant

Deadline: 24 May 2026

We are also seeking quotations for a Business Planning Consultant to prepare an outline business plan and supporting financial case for the next stage of Re-Jenner-ation. This commission will help Dr Jenner’s House test future operating models, review long-term sustainability, and support preparation for a future National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase application. The successful consultant will work alongside the wider project team, including the appointed design team and related planning workstreams. Budget up to £14,000 excluding VAT.
