Wild Clay Workshop, with Martin Elphick
The Sunday afternoons of 13th and 20th July.
We will test our own local samples of natural clay, using both scientific information and traditional craft-based understanding. We will process our clays using household equipment, make some small pots or sculptures and then the following week test-fire them with wood shavings in a garden incinerator.
For adults, teenage or older (younger children if accompanied). The informal, inclusive sessions may be of interest to beginners and more experienced sculptors and potters.
To be held at Dr Jenner’s House/Museum, Berkeley, Gloucs GL13 9BN, as part of the Cotswolds Sculpture Association sculpture exhibition currently in place.
Numbers will be limited to ten participants.
Before booking please contact Martin Elphick to find out more and an initial discussion. Please contact him on martinelphick1@icloud.com as soon as you can.
Please note: the workshop is split into two sessions, a week apart, to allow the work to dry out before firing. There are not two separate bookable events.
